Wade McVey has been coaching football since 2006, including time as a Defensive Coordinator at Bellevue West and most recently 2 years in Gretna. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to coach at various levels from ninth grade, JV, varsity, and LB’s at Midland College. I have been married to my wife Kelly for 15 years this summer.
Alongside coaching, I’ve been a science teacher for 18 years. From Biology/Anatomy/Physical Sci/8th & 7th Grade Science. I love working with student-athletes and helping them grow not just on the field, but as young men and leaders in the community.
Adam has 23 seasons of football coaching experience, including four as a head coach. His main focused was on building strong programs rooted in family, discipline, and growth. His coaching journey began at Omaha Benson High School, where he started as a volunteer 9th-grade wide receivers coach. Over time he eventually became Head Coach from 2008 to 2012. During that time he rebuild the program and lead the team to its most recent playoff appearance in 2009. Then in 2012 to 2023, he worked at Bellevue West High School as the running backs coach and special teams co-coordinator. During this period, he helped lead the team to two State Championships in 2016 and 2019.
Kamirus is a 2018 graduate of Grand Island Central Catholic High School. Had to have someone else from the 308. He then pursued a degree in Elementary Education and Coaching at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He spent two years in college coaching at Waverly High School before graduating in December 2022. Since then, he has been teaching 5th grade at Woodbrook Elementary in Elkhorn for 2 years and has spent the last two seasons at Elkhorn South High School as the Freshman Defensive Coordinator and a Varsity Defensive Assistant. Kamirus and his fiancée, Uyen, reside in Elkhorn and will be getting married this summer!
Joe Hobert - Varsity Assistant
Joe Hobert joins the Antlers football program with a strong background in both playing and coaching. A Wichita native and former three-sport athlete at Maize South High School, Joe went on to become a four-year starting offensive lineman at Peru State College. He has previously coached offensive and defensive line at Maize South and Nickerson High Schools in Kansas. Currently, he serves as the Athletic Director and PE teacher at Elkhorn North Ridge Middle School, where he also coaches wrestling and track. Joe is passionate about football and committed to developing student-athletes on and off the field.
Jake Anderson - Varsity Assistant
Jake Anderson is a 2008 graduate of Elkhorn High School that played football and ran track. Jake attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln graduating with degrees in both Biology and Psychology. In 2020, he began his high school football coaching career at Elkhorn North with the freshman team. Jake currently does personal training for both adults and geared towards young athletes. He is excited to join the staff and looking forward to the upcoming season. Coach Anderson will coach QBs.
Jake Zeplin - Varsity Assistant
Jake Zeplin is a 2018 graduate from Skutt Catholic High School. Zeplin played football for Skutt Catholic as a WR and DB throughout his years. Zeplin then went on to play DB at Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD where he also pursued an Education career in Health and PE. Zeplin has taught both Health and PE along with being an assistant football coach and weight room coach at Roncalli Catholic High School for the past year and a half. Zeplin will be teaching at one of the new elementary schools in Elkhorn as a PE teacher this upcoming fall. Jake is engaged to his high school sweetheart, Becca, and they will be getting married this summer. Jake is excited to be a part of the EHS football coaching staff this year! Zeplin will coach wide receivers and defensive backs for the Antlers.
Preston was a Bellevue East graduate and played the Shrine Bowl. Went on to play O-Line at UNK. Coached Offensive and Defensive line at Kearney High 2023. Helped there 9th grade team to an undefeated season. Preston will also be helping coach both O-Line and D-Line in Elkhorn.
Casey Winings works in the Young Adult program as a Life Skills Special Education teacher for Elkhorn Public Schools. Jeff Maas lives in Elkhorn with his wife and three children. He has taught Industrial Technology at Elkhorn Middle School for the past 6 years where he was also the 7th Grade Head Football Coach. Jeff is also an assistant Wrestling and Track (Long Jump/Triple Jump) Coach at Elkhorn Middle School. He is excited to have the opportunity to work with the youth in the Antler community.

John Bacus coached thousands of athletes at Elkhorn High School over his career of 48 years before his official retirement in 2025. He is a graduate of Kearney State College and played football and basketball for the Lopers. John spends his free time umpiring baseball games and playing trivia. Coach Bacus coached quarterbacks at EHS and retains his title as the resident historian of Elkhorn Football. Don't be surprised if you see him around the program helping with summer camp, charting stats in the box, or stretching on the field.
